This kitchen renovation is rooted in craft and family legacy.
At its center stands a dining table and chairs hand-built by the owner’s grandparents– its presence both a sentimental and functional anchor in the space. Rather than treating it as an artifact of the past, the renovation celebrates the set as a living object, carrying generations of shared meals and stories. The design honors this legacy through a quiet material palette: warm wood floors, open shelving, and clean finishes that echo the table’s handmade quality.
Framed by natural light and views of the outdoors, the entire kitchen feels much more open and welcoming than the existing condition where a wall divided the kitchen from a sunroom-esque type of space that was only six feet wide! Now, their beautiful table is able to sit in the space it deserves framed by a contemporary kitchen. Every detail reinforces the idea that this design is about memory and intention. This is a kitchen shaped by family history, but built for the future.
