This a Floda31 self build project curated together with Johan Berglund; he brought together a group of students and alumni from the Bartlett School of Architecture to participate in this project to build a sustainable mini house at Floda31 for residents. It includes a sleeping/work space, all with a footprint of 160 feet squared or less. It also needed to withstand the harsh climate of North Sweden, which can be -30º in the winter and +30º in the summer and be as sustainable as possible.
The super structure is built using locally produced CLT, on a foundation of plastic wrapped concrete, the exterior shell hangs from this and is fully isolated from the structure. The opening wall pivots off centre on an old Landrover hub. The project was completed over two summers, with various members of the team dropping in and out over the years to add, edit, adapt or just go for a swim in one of the many lakes.
