The project includes the construction of an elementary school, and the extension of a kindergarten. Its aim is to build a contextual architecture, fully aware of its environment.
Pavilions architecture fits harmoniously in the surrounding vegetation by limiting the footprint and preserving existing trees. It allows the view to embrace the entire site, without creating any physical barrier. Volumes are made of compressed earth block (CEB), and are covered with a light metallic roof.
Existing buildings are preserved, thereby the identity of the place as well. New constructions are organized around a vegetalized playground, following a “U typology”. Wide outdoor passageways lead to classrooms, protected from rain and sunlight thanks to large roof overhang. The use of local resources and materials creates a subtle play of textures that generates the project’s identity.
