The architectural project of two residences in the forest.
The project was developed as a one architectural composition with both structures having similar details. The owners are 2 families, good friends, who wanted to get away from the centre of the city of Sochi yet at the same time not live too far from it: urban residents with a desire to retire in nature.
This resulted in acquiring a piece of land just 3 kilometres out of the city, but with a complete sense of oneness with the surrounding nature.
One of the challenges was constructing two buildings on a complex terrain and – contrary to local tradition- saving the existing trees.
We used a lot of natural and local materials: wood , stone, glass and concrete. Double-height spaces in both buildings offer stunning views of the mountains and sky.
