Away, but not alone
How does one get away from the world but not alone?
The five star Quintet is located in the mountain area in Yanggu, an hour driving from Seoul. The five families who own these five houses are either relatives or friends. Design concept of this project is to achieve the interaction between human and nature through the approach of architecture.
Both the architect and owners gave their call to the idea of “less is more” and willing to leave the “busy life” behind in the city. Rooms are just enough for living. Neither too big nor vacant. The real “big space” is the nature outside.
The architectural appearance and materials used of each house are similar, however, while taking the site conditions and living style of each household into account, each house is a unique and special unit.
Each house is a mediation between opposite and conflicting elements: man and nature, interior and view, sunlight and shade, and ultimately, the will to be free and the need to be sheltered
