For All Things Good is a Mexican café nestled into the corner of a quaint block in a bustling Brooklyn neighborhood. Patrons descend three steps from the street and find themselves submersed in a volume that is equal parts wood and white. Plywood wainscoting registers the sidewalk level throughout the café so that one feels like they’re somewhere between the city and a subterranean world. Playful plants and cacti are placed along the window sills to reinforce this immersion. Above the plywood datum, all the finishes from the preceding café, which was a neighborhood fixture, are maintained but ghosted in white paint. The back-of-house area and ceilings are finished in a pale peach that echoes the tones of the wood below. At the center of this material collage is a bright red, sinuous concrete bar that is perched on top of a terra cotta-clad base. The bar punctuates and animates the otherwise muted architectural assemblage.
