Originally designed in 1907, Folwell Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the University’s Historic Knoll District. The two-year exterior restoration began by documenting and evaluating the condition of the highly decorative masonry facades. Over 650 terracotta units were repaired/replaced, all mortar was repointed, historic brick chimneys were rebuilt, and roof tiles were completely replaced.

The interior renovation restored the historic integrity of the building by preserving the historic first level spaces and included the installation of new energy efficient windows, that replicated the original wood windows. Classrooms and offices were modernized, and code and access deficiencies were corrected. New plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and data and telecommunications systems were also implemented.
