Folded Intersections explores a difference of scales and districts at a site that rests at the intersection of the Central Business District and Warehouse District. The intersection of scales is explored through a re-imagining of the Modernist Mat and Tower typology, specifically the intersection of the Public Mat and Private Tower. The Tower folds into the Mat through placement of semi-public outdoor spaces, which further folds into the public spaces of the Mat (hotel lobby, restaurant). The form of the tower folds according to the distribution of single and double rooms as well as to allow natural light and views into the rooms.http://www.joshuamings.com/the_tchoup.php
