Sangganhe Botanical Garden is located in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province. With the progress of urban renewal, in order to solve the problems of old facilities and insufficient activity venues, the Botanical garden has been renovated. At the same time, an additional bridge is needed to connect the two sides of the Sangan River.
From a functional point of view, we do not want the bridge to have only traffic properties, but to integrate more functions of park activities, forming a public space that people are willing to use and participate in. The park intended to build a cafe, so we had the opportunity to integrate the functions.
They set up bicycles and pedestrian lanes separately. Bicycles can reach the other side through the lane. On the pedestrian flow line, the west side of the bridge connects to the north entrance of the botanical garden, and the east side of the bridge connects to the east river landscape. On the west side of the river, a cafe is set up near the river. Through the spiral roof of the cafe, people on the bridge can reach the interior of the building directly to the water. In this bridge, the boundaries of landscape, architecture, bridge, and human flow lines are blurred, and each element is integrated into an organic whole through a spiral path.
In the middle position of the footbridge, we set a step of stairs to reach the second floor of the bridge observation and rest platform, on the landscape platform, you can stand in the middle of the river to enjoy the botanical garden.
In terms of structural design, due to the good tensile performance of the wooden structure and the provision of large span, the bridge adopts the wooden truss structure, the main skeleton adopts the metal cable-stayed stability, and the wooden structure is connected together through the bolted connection of steel members, which provides the large-span bridge floor at the same time, fewer piers reduce the impact on the botanical garden vegetation and the obstacles of visitors' vision.
We used the polycarbonate board for the maintenance structure of the bridge, one is considering that this lighter material can reduce the load of the bridge, and the other is that the translucent properties of polycarbonate better integrate into the natural landscape, forming a hazy visual effect.
The project is very close to the sea, and the landscape bridge is like a ship in the sea fog, like a mirage, so it is named Fog Bridge.
