The rear and roof space of this heritage-listed terrace were remodelled with floorspace significantly increased. The challenge was the potentially claustrophobic context, with high brick and sandstone walls to rear and side boundaries. Natural light and seemingly suspended volumes were used to create a sense of weightlessness, countering the mass of surrounding features.
