“Contemporary practice of architecture inevitably engage the question of our impact on the environment. When it comes to create more eco-friendly building, solutions provided often relies on high building technology and insignificant addition of greenery. We propose to shift from the technical issue to the ethical one by re-thinking the rapport between human and nature. A promenade through a floating forest where trees come out of reflective volumes cre¬ates a mise-en-abyme of the nature, which manifest itself in a recursive but yet poetic and playful way” explains Moyang Yang, founder of UNIT Studio. “By means of those fragmented reflections, the user is constantly in relationship with nature, or its representation. This cinematic experience comes as a sub-conscious reminder of our co-existence with the precious, beautiful but fragile and threatened nature. Our discourse on sustainability takes it a step further by reconverting and keeping elements of the built environment. Thereby, we demonstrate the potential to recycle disregarded structures and the ability of an osmosis between them, the user and nature”
