Conception:Redesigning
the spatial area for multipurpose activity to bring the life back to
the building and to its enviroment..
Cinema building:
Our project name is
„Floating box”. We have choosen this name because we
wanted to create a box, which is „suspended” and it seems to be
floating, not or just slightly touching the ground. The ground is in
this case the first (cinema) floor level where the outer gallery is.
As this is an existing building we had to use the existing mass and
structure to demonstrate and hereby redesign the appearance of the
cinema.
We made the original
cinema mass more rectangular with giving a wide canopy above the main
entrance on the front elevation. This red coloured, projected mass
has new DuPont Corian
exterior cladding for panelized elevation. The glazing
surface, at the bottom of original mass, enhances the floating
impression for the red box. The girders, that can be seen above this
box, look like the suspension structure for the red coloured mass. Of
course this is just optical illusion because the girders support the
perforated new aluminium cover. This cover is also a floating element
not touching the slab. This spectacular cover gives more opportunity
for the outer circulation area, around the existing mass, not to be
only a circulation but even more like a terrace with life. The
holles, on the top of the cover, are filled with transparent material
against rain. On the front elevation we installed a wide screen for
trailer, ads, or free movie depending on the demand.
Starirs:
As this Pushkin square is
in the city center and it is important in the community life for
Muscotives and visitors, we have slightly edited tha main stairs not
to be just stairs but like a square where people can meet each other,
can seat having chat or just take rest. We hought the edges and the
balustrade over and we made the edges straight with outer glazing
balustrade. The unnecessary hole, in the upper landing, was filled up
and we implemented a spectacular but modest water surface. It was
important for us that the main staris should lead your view towards
the building and not taking the attention from the cinema.
The stairs at the metro
entrance could be demolitioned and redesigning with new straight
flight stairs alongside the gallery because currently it is located
in a wrong place for the pedestrians. Close to this stairs on the
outer gallery a Café could be for the community. We designed two
ramps next to the main stairs between the road and square level.
Access for disabled people is available from the ground floor to the
main hall by elevator.
