FLINT, a Dutch creative communications agency, has as its logo two women dressed in traditional Dutch costume who appear to be dancing their way through their lives. The agency therefore uses a traditional Dutch image for its modern communication activities. Could this contrast serve to inspire the interior design of the new reception space and meeting space? We drew on the image of the “en suite room” and carpets with oriental patterns, as traditionally seen in Holland. Without overindulging in history and while retaining a sense of perspective, we combined contemporary interior design with traditional elements. Four free-standing walls represent the “en suite room”. This layout creates the degree of privacy and openness that suits creative communication. On the floor and connecting with the walls is a carpet bearing a traditional design. It links the reception and meeting area, which is at the same time separated by the free-standing walls. This establishes a subtle balance between tradition and future. All other elements, such as lighting and furnishings, are contemporary. So FLINT will be able to dance its way through life with its new reception and meeting area kitted out in traditional Dutch "costume".
