At Fixe, the overarching food and design concept is inspired by the traditions of “Southern Sunday Supper”. This 250 seat restaurant takes architectural cues from the typology of a Southern home, and celebrates with an abstract vibe that meshes perfectly with Austin’s trend-setting culinary scene. Like a choreographed play, guests are treated to a private Library, intimate Parlor, and a traditional ‘Breezeway’ that invites exploration . A screened “Porch” anchors the center of the restaurant with a homespun feeling and the open kitchen and floating bar make guests feel welcome and part of the action.
As guests pass the porch swing upon arrival, they are greeted at the Welcome Bar, a contemporary mixology platform featuring salvaged wood and marble slabs in an elegant assembly. The restaurant enlivens a new building just outside the downtown area, and within this contemporary shell, a residential setting comes to life. Hand-crafted details, repurposed materials and heirlooms comingle with authenticity and express the histories of chef and owner- A unique balance of New Orleans and Texas lineage.
Long views are punctuated with design moments- A deep aqua weathered plaster wall provides a textural backdrop for the lounge; swing arm lamps and floating screen doors hover over intimated dining spaces and vintage wingback chairs.
The ultimate stage is the kitchen pass. Faintly screened by wood window frames, the chef’s table blurs boundaries between front of house and back of house, and invites us to the heart of the home, to stay a while…enjoy
