George Ranalli Architect’s design for retail boutique layers over the existing brownstone facade to make just enough space for dedicated entryways to upper-floor residential units and street-level boutique and salon. Inspired by the charm of storefronts of an early era, the new steel-framed glass-pane facade is notched at the top. Sculptural interiors are functional and chic. As daylight fades, a colorful view presents itself to the nocturnal street. The new lattice facade and the existing brownstone establish a balance of solidity and transparency, in situ, for this distinctively urban architecture.
