Cinema is movement in its working process, history and
soul. This proposal for Pushkinsky’s façade renovation has chosen the movement
of the film strip to represent the relationship between the essence of the 7th
Art and the Russian icon.Made of Corian, one of the most versatile materials
from Dupont, the strips move in a soft but precise way, embracing all the theater
façade. The direction of the strips, coming from the back to the front, refers
to the process of movie projection since its invention. Denser on the sides,
they form layers that give a contemporary face to the building without harming
its structure. More opened at the front, they reveal the main lines of the
original architectural project, not only to preserve history but also to keep
the emotional bond between the movie theater and its audience. On the front
side, the stripes join together forming a led panel, in which the movie posters
and trailers can be presented, and a new glass façade that puts Pushkinsky on
the XXI century without denying its past.
Of course one could never forget the connection with
the square, so the strips also slide slightly on the stair case sides, into the
square, as if they were welcoming the public to a new movie section.
