The cinema’s new envelope is an architectural
expression of film as the combination visual arts, photography, literature,
music, performance and theatre. This expression is derived by projecting
the cinema’s existing form and symbiotically juxtaposing it with the projections
of 8 other cultural landmark buildings whose projections are oriented
towards the cinema.

The Pushshinsky
Cinema: as medium and subject
The new envelope or “skin”, through its
articulated and animated form, conveys movement, motion and a sense of
continuity in time. Mounted on an independent structure, the lightweight mesh
grants the original cinema a new form while protecting and preserving its
restored facade.
The “skin” also acts as a screen which can be
used for large scale cinematic projections and custom state of the art, unique
multimedia performances and experiences.
The new cinema, integrates itself in the
surrounding urban context as a contemporary ode to a bold remnant of the Soviet
modernist era and an established landmark.
