The aim of
the project Fill your Form - Live your Home is to approach the idea of the "apartment" from the Aristotelian
perspective of "using" rather than "owning". Within this framework we propose
the idea of buying online the right to use an apartment anywhere around the
world rather than owning one at a certain location. Moreover, we have
re-interpreted the concept of the "apartment" and designed a transformable
structure with all the spatial properties and requirements of a contemporary residence.
We propose a simple process of buying a product online, from ordering and
customizing based on an expanded catalogue of options, to occupying globally.
The basic
design direction is the creation of a single space unit with all housing
functions depending and collaborating with it. By researching the basic needs
of a visitor-resident (LIVING, SLEEPING, COOKING, WORKING, MEETING, RELAXING,
WC) we recorded the spatial relationships developed between those spaces as
well as between the elements that comprise them, in order to create an
ergonomic and moreover pleasant synthesis of a living space within the house.
The process described previously as well as the unit?s automatic modification
for storage (in case of de-activation) are all part of the basic design tools
that we employed.
Another
important design factor was the house?s autonomy regarding energy production
and consumption. For this reason, photovoltaic panels are used as well as a
large drainage tank for storing water. The house is made of a steel frame
structure with wooden cladding, while the exterior skin is made of Suspended
Particle Polymers which is responsible for the degree of transparency and
reflectivity of the light. The whole construction stands on a big balloon
filled with water that helps it adapt on any type of ground and also helps
during installation.
