The existing structure resembled a plywood box sitting on a concrete box. While retaining a simple box form, the two hard skins were replaced with the softer lines of cedar shingles.
A cedar lattice wall wrapped new stairs leading to the second story deck.
The resulting transparency and views to the harborfront site integrate the building with its surroundings, while providing privacy without isolation.
