The project consists of a 30,000 square foot screening building, a 4,000 square foot north lobby building and a 290-foot sky bridge connecting the two buildings.
The facility achieved LEED© Silver Certification and opened in May, 2012.
The complex is the main point of entry into the FedEx Memphis Hub for employees and visitors alike. The pedestrian bridge is a key feature of the project, connecting the FedEx employee parking lot with the new employee screening facility. Pedestrian traffic through the bridge exceeds 2 million round trips per year. The bridge is clad in 44 folded transparent screens that consist of sheets of perforated aluminum. This metal skin reduces glare and solar heat gain on the floor to ceiling windows.
At night, the movement of pedestrians in the bridge is visible through the transparent facade.
