Our proposed occupation on the ground starts on the topography. The building has an L-shape and this action optimizes the views to the west and north (sea views). For the ideal occupation on the ground, part of the plan shifts to the west facade. So this accommodation on the ground creates a large indoor atrium, open, with a micro-climate that will ensure proper and better comfort for the building as a whole. On the ground floor there is the cultural complex with two auditoriums (which can be joined in a large auditorium) and the library. Pillars create a large square of conviviality and contemplation of the landscape and the city of Florianópolis. The great hall creates a common area for meetings and different communication experiences, represents a contemporary workspace and socializing and creates a space for the use of a biodiversity of local vegetation and natural. The exterior of the building is characterized by a coating of wooden blades that encloses the volumes of the offices bringing them together into a single solid and defining the space of the inner court as well. This façade treatment moves on all sides, including internal ones, and follows the shape of each plan. In this way the external perception of the building is unitary, while in the court the fronts of each level move to createa higher level of complexity and richness. These blades conforms also as a complex filter device of solar radiation and noise from the street. The different depths of these blades are designed according to the solar inclination on the different façades. Due to the tropical climate there's the need to shield as much as possible the interiors and the court from direct sunlight. The shield made of brise-soleil, prevents the entry of direct sunlight through the windows of the rooms, still maintaining an open view of the outside and distributing light to the inner part of offices. To reduce the negative effect of the high rate of humidity the best solution is to use natural ventilation, favored by local conditions that ensure constant airflow throughout the year. To reduce the use of potable water for inappropriate purposes, a system of water collection and storage has been designed.
