Submitted for an ideas competition sponsored by the AIA, the project brief called for a house for a fictional family of four and their hydrogen powered car. The design proposed a screened glass box, anchored by a concrete wall, with a rain-harvesting roof. A filtering system treats collected rainwater and recycled grey water, and returns it to the house for potable uses, keeping the house independent of the municipal water grid. Because the exhaust of hydrogen fuel is water vapor, the family car makes a contribution to the process.
