Overlooking Old Rag Mountain at the border of the Shenandoah National Park, this home and farm complex aims to preserve the natural landscape which has been in the hands of farmers for centuries. In collaboration with landscape architects Terremoto, a long term plan has been developed to restore the property by planting native meadows and clearing away invasive species. The complex consists of a main house, event barn, and three guest cabins, all with views of the surrounding mountains. Abstract vernacular forms are clad with charred wood with light, bright interiors in a simple yet materially-rich palette.
