The design approach takes advantage of the ridgeline view to the north and opportunities for capturing natural light to brighten this home that is tucked into the hillside and surrounded by trees. Without the option for expanding the area, efficient use of space was a necessity. Opening the kitchen and extending the countertop creates a place for eating and working while shelves span across the window to maximize surface area. A large sliding glass door expands the living space to the deck for flexibility and continuity between interior and exterior. The entry is defined by an awning that provides both shade and shelter from the rain. Textures and materials were selected to complement the collection of objects and art that establish the character of this home.
