Jakub Černoch already had the building permit in hand when he came to us. We retained the original form with the segmented roof, something that belongs to the factory, and transposed it entirely into wood. Only in those areas where the machines are did we use concrete fl oors and ceilings. Structurally, it is the American framing system, for a 12-meter ceiling span, we were able to do it with 200mm segmented girders. The factory has three parts: the fi rst (and smallest) is really one three-meter module, which is where Jakub lives; inside the next module are the offi ces and the rest is for manufacturing (ground fl oor) with assembly above it. Light fi lters through the entire centre of the factory, including the staircase assembled from small wooden rods.
