“Inspiration
is needed in geometry, just as much as in poetry.”
Paying tribute to these great words by Alexander Pushkin,
our approach was to start by studying the simple geometry through which the
building was originally conceived. We
choose to respect the geometry of the building and create additional program
that would liven the building by bringing people into it. People inspire poetry and to really make
Pushkinsky cinema a landmark of culture in Russia we feel the need to activate
it for the people. A facade is sometimes a superficial treatment provided to
building to conceal what would otherwise be eye-sores so we chose to do less.
Taking cues from the simple geometry, our proposal consists
of 3 main components.
1.
THE RECTANGLE : The self-sustaining l.e.d wall
2.
THE DIAGONAL and the TUBE : Escalation / stairs
along the sides of the building to the roof
3.
THE PLANE : An activated roof scape.
