Curtidos Madrigal is a company established in Elda, Alicante, which specialises in the purchase and sale of leather. The aim of this project was to transform the façade of the main corporative building, which is to be found in the Pedreres industrial estate in Petrer, Alicante.
The new façade is envisaged as a second skin, making reference to the product that the company covers in the market. From the outside, the building is seen to be a compact, irregular geometric volume with a clear horizontal line that has been highlighted by this second skin. This has been divided into two parts: the upper part in light grey and the lower part, dark.
In order to avoid taking away from the rotundity of this image of consistency and denseness of volume, the entry of natural light is achieved by means of a large band of micro-perforated plate in the same tone and in the same pattern along the whole length of the façade, following the line of windows and respecting the use of these in the interior.
Vegetation and lighting take on great importance since they help to frame the outer volume, softening its forms and bringing about an organic touch that integrates and blends it in with the surrounding environment.
In the same way, a covering has been built to frame the main entrance to the building, through which light, the forms and the vegetation lead to the interior.
Along with this, this accentuated entrance helps to smooth the contrast between the front façade and the sides of the building, producing with the slope of the covering a lowering of the level of the union of the two colours.
