An existing 1990s educational facility, owned by one of europe's biggest unions, lacked a large convention room and sufficient dining facilities.
'in_design architektur' planned and executed an annex and an intense conversion - that took the entire complex into the 21st century.
The design concept transformed the union's identity and 'diversity' into a geometrical pattern that is present in the building's outer appearance, the interior cladding and even the sound baffles in the convention center.
The owner's ecological philosophy was respected, e.g. by using CO2-friendly timber construction, insulation from recycled newspapers and 'massive' wooden claddings. With a wink of the eye there's even a green wall inside - grown with living moss - that includes the union's symbol.
The rooms are combinable in a highly complex matter. The convention area can be 'halfed' and the dining area separated with different sliding and moving walls - depending on the number of guests. The 'diversity also finds it's representation in the different seating opportunities - from a big bench over combinable tables up to single seating, there is an option for any individual member.
