Italo Lupi, Ico Migliore, Mara Servetto – on the occasion of Expo 2015 – have been commissioned to conceive
an urban communication installation representing the Nations that, four years before the opening ceremony
(April 30th), have already joined the international event.
The national ensigns were displayed in an original way in the Flags Boulevard lining up along Via Dante in Milan,
walking artery that links the Duomo (Milan Cathedral) and the Castello Sforzesco (Sforza Castle).
The Palo Milano (Milan pole), vertical element highly recognizable and born for this occasion, presented in the
central banner a reinterpretation of the national flags together showing a couple of slim side banners with Italian,
English and French names of the countries and a small original flag representation.
Conceived to be part of the urban rhythm and to create an in-progress installation, this flexible tool offered a sitting base and have been left as an heritage to the City of Milan.
The opening ceremony of the “Flags Boulevard” was scheduled on April 30th, on the occasion of the Expo Day.
Expo Flags, artistic installation of urban communication by Lupi, Migliore, Servetto, was meant to diffuse in the area close to the Castello Sforzesco growing with the Nations taking part at the Expo.
