The hotel lobby was conceptualized as a hub connecting guests to the L’Amico restaurant, The Vine bar, and the distinctive hotel rooms and upstairs spaces. The structure and furnishings of this space were designed and tailored to emphasize a connection to New York’s culture and history. To begin, the entire ground floor exterior has been redesigned to incorporate a patterned steel facade while adding a canopy that takes inspiration from 20th century New York Architecture. Upon entering the space, guests are welcomed by a stacked felt reception desk, evocative of early American ready-mades, and touches throughout of American walnut and perforated steel. A large central seating area allows guests to relax comfortably or gather for various social events. Fabric wrapped panels line the walls and custom brass light fixtures, inspired by lenses and industrial joinery, provide a warm glow. Blackened steel and textured glass screens create semi-transparent partitions between the lobby, bar and restaurant.
