The strategy we used to respond to the main topic presented by the Europan Competition , called “Revitalization”, was to design through using urban acupunctures, that’s mean treating major issues about urban development and housing wealth by acting on specific items that then interact with the global system . In the case of RudkobingCity, while the territory size is broader then its real size, these small intervention points may have an effect on an urban scale throughout the all country. These six (or more) points of intervention are part of an uneven and chaotic system in which the structure of the city that is oriented towards the sea, is highly fragmented by the historical lack of planning aimed to establish a real sustainable and consistent urban development. The project aimed to establish a clear well defined urban design. The project objectives are: 1. Making a work of cleansing in the waterfront of all those structures sedimented in time, which interfere with the enjoyment of the areas close to the sea;
2. Creating a physical and visual link between the oldest original structure of the city and the sea, the central element in social and working history of the place;
3. Designing a space with the characteristics of the traditional Mediterranean seafront, which is a stretched “Piazza” along the coastline from north to south without any interruption;
4. Filling in this new urban structure a series of functions designed to revitalize the area and the city itself, such as residential, recreational, commercial, sporting and cultural uses.5. Making this idea of city development consistent and sustainable and that the project shows a clear link between the existing elements of the cultural tradition of the city and the new urban context.
