Esthetic Joys Embassy is an open venue for like-minded people. It is a safe space where everybody can pop by to work, socialise and collaborate. The venue supports various cultural events: since its opening in 2022 Esthetic Joys Embassy has hosted art exhibitions, charity chess tournaments, public lectures and, of course, parties.
The venue is located in a picturesque two-storey building drowning in abundant vines of wild grapes. The Embassy has two bars, café, terrace and an orchard with drinking fountain. Interior’s colour scheme is based on various shades of pink and nude and the use of different kinds of stone (marble, tuff, travertine and granite) gives the colours extra depth.
One of the key challenges of this project was the orchard which was inherited from the past owners of the building. We have made some new additions to refresh the orchard planting some bushes and perennial flowers. The flower motif is also the signature part of Esthetic Joys Embassy’s identity and the architecture plays along, connecting the brand with its surroundings. Floral theme is reflected in small details such as glazed tiles and ceramics and even echoed in some furniture. The tabletops in the courtyard’s zone are carved in shapes of daisies and the small outdoor fountain made of colourful tuff, travertine and basalt resembles a simplified flower. Interior’s palette of rosy hues was inspired by the venue’s location too: Yerevan is often called ‘The Pink City’ because of the dusty pink tuff used for building. Vibrant blue brings the exciting contrast to an otherwise calming interior.
Esthetic Joys Embassy is our first project in Armenia — it was a great opportunity to dive into the culture and architecture of Yerevan, as well as getting to work with local builders, bricklayers and engineers. Another important feature of this project is our collaboration with TUMO Studios, a free educational platform which supports designers, jewellers and ceramics artists. Fabrics and ceramics for this project were produced at The Studios’ workshops.
