Conversion of a dormant office space in the Taubman College Dean's Suite to a flexible meeting space for administration and faculty. Once a severe concrete block space with a slab floor and tile ceiling, the intervention adds a soft, adaptive layer to all surfaces which are performative in some capacity. Walls are MDF panels custom laminated with a dry-erase surface or tackable homosote. The table is also topped with dry-erase making it useful as a surface to support engaged discussion and workshopping. The project utilises CNC milling for the table, cantilevered from a center support to maximise space, and the acoustic/light diffusing panels above use an egg-crate logic via laser-cut plywood. An MDF floor of custom panel colours and sizes also softens the space underfoot.
