Equinix operates data centers in 32 cities in 15 countries around the world. Called International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centers, these are positioned as platforms for global information and digital economy.

OS1 (Osaka 1st) is the first IBX data center to be located in the Osaka. It is also its noteworthy 100th center in the world. We designed the entrance hall used by IBX data center clients. The design concept was to create a space that can portray the distinct and global activities of OS1 to the many clients coming here from around the world through a visual expression of its location in Japan.

Business expansion through the interconnection of information accumulated via the Equinix platform is expressed by evolving on the image of thin, delicate fibers that are spun into yarn and eventually woven into a stunning piece of fabric. The traditional design style of latticework is used as the motif to manifest this image.

◇Steel lattices aligned in an orderly balance
◇Expressive wooden lattices have a striking effect
◇Ceiling lattices modify traditional latticework

The concept is vividly expressed by arranging three types of lattices like yarn that is spun to encompass the space as a whole.
