BAC Degree Project: Environment for the Arts, Littleton, MA200,000 SF of Buildings on 40 square acresConcept: -To create open and enclosed spaces using the forest as a model for an artist colony in Littleton, MA. The varying density of the forest creates variety of apertures and qualities of light. The organization of the program on the site is based on renaissance villa organization because of the variety of program. The linear and visual axes of the villa were replaced by organic paths in order to recreate the paths of the surrounding woods, while maintaining the hierarchy of program in elevation. The program: gallery (focus building), theater, dormitories for performing artists, artist studios, classrooms, administrative offices, and lecture hall.
