In 2009 the Dolomites became World Cultural Heritage. Bolzano is a city in the heart of these mountains, the place where this project was built and Salewa an enterprise in this city which sells everything you need in the mountains. As an artist it is my desire to connect people with space, time and Nature and therefore this concept contemplates the mountain from different angles:- As a folded landscape: are folds spaces or are they material?- As a world that looks always different and the appearance depends on the point of view.- As a landscape that has been formed by water and water is still forming it.- As an always changing habitat which is occupied by people and plants.- As a world in motion. As in the mountains plants grow in every tiny crack so in this open space between all the concrete slabs grow plants. Usually parking spaces are defined by white lines. In this area they are limited by plants which also border the clearly defined pedestrian paths. Concrete structures collapse, create lower and higher surfaces, generate new spaces and accordingly with them unusual underfoot feelings. The outside produces the inside. Unexpected feelings arise when we climb the mountains. Our longing to discover new horizons behind the words and behind the silence led us to continue to scale the clouds. But this inner ambition to reach higher goals is at the same time our deepest fear: namely not to be inadequate but to be to powerful beyond every measure. Still only the belief in the own ideas and abilities can move mountains. This conviction finds its expression in the shortest poem by Ungaretti “M’illumino d’immenso” - "Unendlicht" written on the metal construction which divides the parking space in the middle…ENLIGHTEN YOUR LIGHT.
