The monastery land from Bucovina has the ability to project one in a long forgotten world , specially if one takes time to walk trough the leafy , memory filled forest, pierced by reflections and light rods, with no other thought on their mind...
The project was born out of necessity – a commercial one.
The theme – an easy to aces halt witch had to accommodate around 60 people , a bar, toilets ..
Then, with the arrival of the dream some modifications to the design theme had to be made:
… why shouldn't it be energetically independent, if after all there is an energy supply problem in the area
then
… what if we would find a permanent exhibition, witch would cover the bracings and show the many steps a project has to surpass – even a small but complex project like this one,
… how would it be like if the furniture could become stands for sculpture exhibitions ( the owners host an annual art camp ) and the tables would be retractable so the space could be redefined … such as a semi closed garden witch fragments the surrounding view
… and , being that the soil is damp we would transform the terrace into a bridge over a small draining pool , with a fireplace over the water at witch some will compete in the art of cooking ...
… all of these features packed in a “forest”, a birch forest , just like the one that used to thrive in this area some time ago.
Only traditional materials are being used and local craftsmen that can skilfully handle the hatchet would shape the wood into shingles witch will cover the “exhibition forest” that plays with light.
