The renovation of this historic 1950's residence, by original architect Harwell Hamilton Harris for the English family in Beverly Hills, focused on restoring its original grandeur while introducing contemporary detailing, materials and cabinetry consonant with its classic design.Stripped to its original wood framing to conform to all current building practices and codes, the 7,000 square foot residence was painstakingly rebuilt. An original wing of the home, removed for a larger addition that was never realized, was rebuilt to its original footprint with minor interior plan changes, and the original basement housing storage and shop was transformed into a screening room and home gymnasium.Landscaping by Griffith & Cletta serve to enhance these views and connect its environs to the interior. The exterior house color as well as the interior colors and design by Kay Kollar, inspired by the colors and light specific to the site, reinforce the home's connection to the landscape beyond.
