Yankon is a global Chinese manufacturer of LED lighting. Energetic Lighting is Yankon’s first venture into the European market. The logistics headquarters realized in Kontich (BE) comprises a warehouse, offices and showroom. The building is situated five minutes from the E19 highway, at the edge of an industrial park that borders on a residential cluster. The architecture is intended to reflect the ‘lightness’ of the corporate branding and is achieved through the application of white industrial concrete in combination with a curtain wall façade gradient of transparent and semi-transparent glazing. From rear to front, the solemn industrial monolith transitions into an rhythmically composed curtain wall. The glazed volume jumps above as it winds around to the front facade, creating a recessed covered loading dock at ground level and a floating showroom overhead.
