Cooper Carry designed the 70,000 square foot addition and 40,000 square foot renovation to Emory’s Atwood Chemistry Building. The project is a five-level facility that includes laboratories, offices, administration suite, teaching labs, conference rooms, a collaborative classroom, resource center, and commons space. Included in the design is a four-story atrium that connects the existing building to the new addition. This space represents an effort to create a collaborative community of researchers, faculty, administrators, and students. The new commons, atrium, and exterior courtyard is the heart of the chemistry department and community.
