T.F.O.A Professional Preparatory Charter School is a highly innovative public charter school located in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, with exciting new ideas and project proposals for the greater Bed Stuy community. We have worked with them on a number of projects and are currently working with them on this ongoing feasibility study for the full upgrading renovation of an existing pre-war school building, phase one of a larger campus plan which includes adjacent sites and additional programming of housing, community incubator offices and other facilities and recreation centers. The project includes a 6-8 grade middle school newly expanded from its existing rapidly expanding location where it shares space with the T.F.O.A elementary school. With no open space nearby, we were inspired to use the roof as an urban oasis playground. This playground has a variety of flexible play zones as well as play islands which include movable and fixed seating, storage, play pads, and planters for tree coverage as well as urban farming.
