The hotel has become a destination unto itself. For all their in-house amenities, they are simply a synthesis of their surroundings, a representation of the city in which they reside. Embedded Hotel breaks the down the hotel into its simplest forms - collections of guest rooms. These room clusters are reinserted throughout the urban fabric, making a greater connection to the city and gaining proximity to ?real? amenities found locally such as restaurants, gyms, spas and bars. The Hotel is no longer one building; it is a network, an infrastructure that takes advantage of under used areas of the city. The city becomes the hotel. Embedded Hotel?s room clusters morph and mutate to fit into their surroundings, activating discarded public spaces giving them life and energy. This design of opportunity becomes the brand itself. In the Embedded Hotel network the administration and reservations are online, and operate more like car share program. To gain access to hotelclusters and rooms a patron must fi rst obtain a membership card. Reservations can be made for any room, in any neighborhood throughout the city. Mobile cleaning crews are dispatched to rooms in need of housekeeping. In addition to creating a better local experience for tourists, the hotel also can be used as a convenient place for a true ?rest stop?. The Embedded Hotel in its own way becomes the epitome of gentrification as it makes parking lots and back alleys sexy. The project ispresented as a promotional video that cheekily plays upon this idea.
