The new Elk Camp Restaurant at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola is a signature building for Snowmass Ski Area that exemplifies, thru visual expression and quality, the Aspen Skiing Company brand. The 24,500 SF summer and winter dining venue features a trademark curved roof design as its defining element, which is rooted in several key principles - establishing a base camp to nature and adventure, integrating a “cool” factor that exudes energy, and most importantly creating a memorable, multi-generational experience that is central to the values of Snowmass.
The restaurant seats 250 visitors in the main “great” room, 150 guests outdoors and 75 children in the dedicated children’s dining area on the lower level. The bar, with focused views to the Hanging Valley wall is warmed by a gracious indoor fireplace and provides casual seating and intimate gathering. The Scramble-style Servery includes Pizza, Panini, Rotisserie and Soups stations and an extensive central Fresh Salad Bar. Public Restrooms on both levels provide easy access for skiing and riding guests.
The building’s architecture expresses both contemporary and alpine characteristics, inside and out, while functionally and comfortably serving a wide variety of purposes and guest service needs. Building materials are natural and tactile, connecting the architecture to its mountain setting. The food and beverage concept and the building design create a synergy through the use of exquisite displays of fresh foods encompassed by refined materials, superior lighting and enticing graphics.
