Akihabara Electric Town, located in Tokyo, Japan, is a 5 minute train ride away from Tokyo Station. Today Akihabara is a major shopping area for electronics, anime, and computer games.
Due to the congestion and activity in the Akihabara region it was ideal to elevate the proposed transportation platform and reduce any impact on public street. 3 train lines pass through the station allowing bidirectional traffic in conjunction with a station stop. This station would serve the Electric Town and help alleviate the closest station.
A simple module, composed of 3 layers was created. This unit can be easily multiplied and transformed to create a number of surfaces. Each module can be rotated and connected together forming a circular arrangement. In plan view each of these modules are offset forming a diamond pattern.
