Element is a boutique hotel in a privileged area in the western area of Holbox Island, close to Punta Cocos beach.
In order to respect the low-density context, the program is divided into 6 modular blocks that reduce the visual weight of the work by integrating gardens and paths in the empty spaces between the buildings, these blocks are rotated, opening views and gardens between them and move one level. from the floor reducing the impact to the site and causing the surrounding vegetation to enter the space.
On the ground floor the services such as the reception, the restaurant bar and the pool are solved, while on the upper floors the rooms with small terraces are solved that take advantage of the height to gain views of the context.
The structure is resolved in 6 x 6 m modules stacked on 3 levels and supported by concrete foundation walls that come out of the floor to house the functions of the ground floor. The interior configuration of the walls allows wide spaces without corners, placing vertical windows in these that allow random light inputs during the course of the day.
A reduced range of materials in walls and floors provides a timeless character to the building that combined with a subtle handling of woods, fabrics and colors achieve a contrast of warmth against the structure. The ground floor spaces integrate sand packed into floors to create the feeling of always being in contact with nature.
