In spring 2012, near one of the gateway from Saint-Petersburg was unveiled a project of the pavilion for the bicycle brand Electra. The project has taken the first place in Cycle Home competition which results were announced a few months before the project delivery.
Pavilion consists from combination of three factors: space, light and transformation. Exposition was formed according vertical principle with the purpose to give more space for people and bicycles. The internal space was emptied for visitors. Vertical exposition gave an opportunity to allocate rather large amount of the bicycles and at the same time highlight unicity of the models. Every bicycle occupies its own cell. Sun protection was also included in the design scheme due to pavilion works during the summer time. Horizontal cell elements prevent internal space from the sun light. That preserves internal space from overheating. During the cold period of the year pavilion can be modified to display window. Banners installed behind the cells structure will hide the internal space. That transforms the building to advertising structure.
During the summer time pavilion works as the retail point. At the end of the season all customers can store their bicycle in the pavilion for the winter period. In winter time pavilion works as parking lot-display window for the bicycles Electra. At the end of the winter all bikes owners can take back their bicycles and pavilion will be filled with the new bicycle models for sale in summer time.
