El Cerdo is dubbed as one of the best Spanish fine-dining restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. El Cerdo’s bar and restaurant has been the talk of the town since 16 years ago. Inspired by the nose-to-tail movement, El Cerdo restaurant uses every cut of a pig in their menu. The business owner who also the main chef, Chef Werner Kuhn requested a modern twist for their 2nd outlet, El Cerdo TTDI.
The fundamental design concept is based on the 1st outlet in Changkat Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. The design is inspired by the traditional Spanish design of fan-shaped yellow stucco wall and walnut wood floor, also their iconic golden pig statue at the entrance. The double volume space that is facing the main road is the site advantage for us to create a ceiling design that serves both interior & exterior view.
Inspired by the golden pig, the main color scheme is gold. We use curves and arches to soften the design where you can trace from the space from the entrance to the VIP room. The same approach was used on the display cabinet as well. The golden chain of wavy high ceiling is one of the most extravagant highlight of the design. The chains were laid precisely with different length for the lavish visual effect.
We design the low level ceiling with the 2’x2’ frame and custom made rattan panel which also matching the chair design. The tables are made with the composite compact panel of 6mm thickness that creates a fine-looks.
The intent of this design is to utilize the double volume space that creates a grand impact. It is a combination of mirror reflections, contemporary furnishings and luxury touch to create a luxurious and pleasant dining experience."
