The clients came across our previous works in the media and found that our views on living environment and living attitude are like theirs and are unique in Hong Kong. The main reason is that we are a design ethos based on Australian culture. During the process, we worked together with the clients to renovate the interior space of a residential building aged over 60 years old.
Taking the main view, the yachts, the Victoria Harbour and the sky into our design, we worked to bring out the natural and calm atmosphere. A symphony of material textures, details on joinery, artwork and functional elements, a space with personality and serenity was born.
We maximized natural light deep into the interior by a well-planned partition and use of timber batten screen to provide limited privacy. We use extra water-resistant coated timber flooring across all dry areas which can provide a consistent atmosphere in all areas. According to the living habits of the household, we moved the washbasin away from the wet area to avoid getting the feet wet. A steam generator is hidden in the curved glass-enclosed bathroom, allowing the enjoyment of the charming Victoria Harbour during relaxing moments.
Bi-fold doors allow for increased breezes to enter the space, giving an invisible connection between the outdoors and the indoors. The open kitchen with huge storage and bench space allow groups of people to enjoy party time in the living, dining and kitchen areas without boundaries and with the Victoria Harbour view.
Beautiful design nourishes our minds and vision. We use our knowledge of color psychology, environmental psychology, human ergonomics, among other fields of study, to design environments that look comfy, function well, and actually can make you healthier.
