Designed as a family home for a local couple and their four children, the Tennis Club Residence’s most prominent features are the views. Perched above the Maroon Creek Ravine, the home’s faceted floorplan was generated to align living spaces with the truly unique surrounding views. The living room’s massive windows showcase Aspen Highlands at the center, Ajax to the left, and Buttermilk to the right. This traditionally designed home incorporates the living, dining, kitchen, family and breakfast rooms on the main level, engaging grade on one side and perched above the slope to the water on the other. The lower level includes a media/game room, gym and four bedrooms. Finally, the master suite encompasses the entire upper level with optimized mountain and sunset views over the Maroon Creek Golf Course. Throughout, the home uses custom rustic detailing and a rich palette of materials, including hand-hewn timber trusses, reclaimed chesnut flooring, flamed granite, Venetian plaster, and glass-jeweled wallpaper, to achieve the clients’ desired look and feel. As the architects, our firm brought value to this project by optimizing the way in which the building was sited in order to capitalize on its incredible location. We also leveraged our extensive residential design experience to customize materials and detailing in tailoring this project to the client’s specific needs and lifestyle, providing them with a home they plan to enjoy for years to come.
