The municipality of Suhareka has a population of 88000 inhabitants, population growth rate of 3‰ and a high percentage of education rate in primary, secondary and university level.
Suhareka as a municipality (administrative structure) exists from 1928 and on the same year we have the opening of the first school in the town, initially as a 4 – year primary school. The historical importance of the school lies on its social and educational achievements. A number of local personalities of the time were brought up in this school, which grow up nationally and internationally, and played and important part on shaping the future of the municipality.
Accordingly, the school conveyed many intellectual power to the area and through their work they added values and help directly and indirectly on municipality’s growth and development, in a colossal way. In one way, the school has been a ‘production industry of intellectual reactors’.
Having into regard its immense importance and its social, educational and cultural vales, this school has devotedly generated a stable and high performance schooling system in the area and broader in Kosova.
Nowadays, the municipality of Suhareka has a considerable number of schools which with the way and the educational strategy and more important with local teachers high commitment tries to preserve and cultivate its educational tradition and history.
Consequently, the municipality of Suhareka has decided to conserve the school by reconstructing and revitalising it and keeping its initial origin into an Educational Museum. Taking into account the architectural context, revitalising means changing its function according to the nowadays community’s needs still preserving its architecture physiognomy since we have to do with the architecture value building.
Pursuant to the above statement, the school will have its physical condition reconstructed, thus preserving its external view by modifying its internal adapted to the needs of the Educational Museum. The final structural composition is based on the draft project proposal and the compiled project program by the experts and the designing studio.
